The article is devoted to the study of administrative regulation of information relations in the sphere of mass media and theoretical and methodological support, as well as the development of institutions of information law in the conditions of the modern information society in Russia. The problems of information legal relations are studied in organic connection with the improvement of legal regulation of information relations in the sphere of mass media and the final formation of a separate complex institution of law – information law. The expediency of studying the process of legal regulation and lawful behavior of subjects of information legal relations, which provides for a proactive procedure for the implementation of the norms of information law in the form of information legal relations, as well as structuring the sphere of mass information in the sectors of traditional and electronic mass media, is substantiated.
