The article considers the study of the functioning of phrasal verbs in English-language legal discourse. The authors explore the specifics of legal discourse as a separate type of communication, identifying its characteristic features. The paper examines the role of phrasal verbs in creating accuracy, conciseness, and expressiveness of legal texts. The authors analyze the cases of the use of phrasal verbs in the subgenres of legal discourse (based on the texts of conventions). Particular attention is paid to the difficulties that arise when translating phrasal verbs from English into Russian, due to their polysemy, idiomaticity, and lack of equivalents in the target language. Strategies and ways for adequately conveying the meaning of phrasal verbs, taking into account the context, are proposed. The research aims to improve the quality of legal translationand facilitate communication between legal professionals who use English and Russian in their professional activities.
