This article is devoted to the consideration of the features of teaching language disciplines in a law school. Particular attention is paid to the functioning of the basic laws of rhetoric in the context of legal discourse. The theoretical material in the article is supplemented by a small amount of practical material, which makes it easier to understand some aspects of legal discourse. The multidimensionality of professional communication of a modern police officer implies the possession of basic knowledge about the art of discourse, speech behavior, as well as understanding and using stylistic norms. The importance of educating communicative competence, the development of speech culture in the aspect of discourse is confirmed by the fact that language disciplines are included in the curricula for the preparation of adjuncts, which, in turn, entails the development of positive personal and professional qualities of a legal scholar, as well as a teacher of a law school, contributes to the formation of a positive the image of a police officer in society.
