Currently, in order to form professional and pedagogical readiness of the staff of correctional colonies and pre-trial detention facilities to work with juvenile offenders the institutions of the criminal executive system organize special classes as part of service training. These sessions are a set of activities that determine how the staff in question acquire the relevant knowledge and practice-oriented skills that can be applied in their work with juveniles. In addition, the staff of some institutions regularly attend training and methodological meetings, in which various issues of psychological and pedagogical nature are considered. The article presents a part of scientific research reflecting the current state of work on the formation of professional and pedagogical readiness of employees of educational colonies and pre-trial detention centers to work with juvenile offenders. The presented research allowed not only to summarize the available in the territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia practical experience of work with employees nteracting with juvenile offenders to identify problematic issues in the organization and conduct of these classes, but also to determine promising directions in the context of improving this area of activity.
