Abstract:
Digital platforms have become an essential element of the modern economy and social communication, which determines the relevance of their scientific classification and the search for adequate models of legal regulation. Based on an interdisciplinary approach, the article examines the main criteria for the typology of digital platforms: functional, technological (architectural), and socio-legal. Special attention is paid to the author’s comparative analysis of transactional and non-transactional platforms, identifying trends in the convergence of their functionality within ecosystems. The main focus of the research is a critical analysis of Federal Law No. 289-FZ of July 31, 2025 “On Certain Issues of Regulation of the Platform Economy in the Russian Federation”. Legal defects in the conceptual framework used and problems of delimiting the scope of the law are identified. In conclusion, proposals are formulated for improving legislation in terms of clarifying the criteria for classifying platforms as intermediary and eliminating conflicts associated with combining different types of activities on a single digital platform.
