The article is devoted to the context-oriented evaluation of the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) curriculum for law enforcement training. In particular, the textbook used for ESP classes for cadets of the Police School of the University of Home Affairs of Mongolia is analyzed. It is emphasized that the content of textbooks should be based on a competency-based approach. The context-oriented analysis of the textbooks showed their compliance with international and national educational programs and adequacy to meet the needs of cadets. Statistical data from the survey are provided, indicating the need to develop students’ global competencies. In conclusion, recommendations are offered for improving the curriculum, including the inclusion of more relevant content in it, as well as the introduction of interactive methods for the development of soft skills.
