The article provides a comprehensive theoretical and legal analysis of the state as a form of political organization of society using a systematic methodological approach. It explores the fundamental characteristics of statehood, the mechanisms of the state's functioning, and its interaction with other elements of the political system. The current challenges associated with globalization, informatization, and democratization, which require a re-evaluation of the state's role in evolving political systems are examined. The author concludes that the effectiveness of the state's system-forming role determines the nature and prospects of the political system's development as a whole.
