Abstract (English):
The article examines the influence of newspaper headlines on the formation of a negative image of Meghan Markle in media discourse. The authors emphasize the significance of newspaper discourse as a tool for disseminating information and shaping public opinion, focusing on the specific functions of headlines, particularly their evaluative and expressive functions. The study is based on a content analysis of the headlines of articles published in the online version of the newspaper “Daily Mail” that focus on Meghan Markle, who is one of the most talked-about figures of our time. The analysis identifies the main categories of negatively colored headlines, such as scandals and conflicts, the breaking of traditions, the commercialization of Meghan’s actions, and discrediting. The headlines highlight Meghan’s complex relationship with the royal family, her violation of traditional norms, and her business ambitions, which are often perceived as a desire for fame.
