«WITHOUT THE SHADOW OF LEGAL JUSTIFICATION»: THE ROLE OF R. A. RUDENKO IN THE MAIN PROCEEDING AGAINST THE LEADERS OF NAZI GERMANY

Abstract (English):
The article is devoted to the role of Roman Andreevich Rudenko in the main trial against the leaders of Nazi Germany in the International Military Tribunal. Special attention is paid to the formation of the personality of the prosecutor R.A. Rudenko. In many ways, his professional qualities, namely the ability to speak in public, eloquence and fortitude, became key when choosing the Chief Prosecutor at the Nuremberg trials from the USSR. The author notes that the commission, which was personally headed by R.A. Rudenko, as evidence of the crimes of the Nazis on the territory of the USSR, attached not only the testimony of witnesses, but also collected irrefutable evidence of the crimes of the Nazis. It is concluded that the Nuremberg trials have become a precedent of international law. It triumphed the principle of equality of all before the law, the principle of ensuring the right of the accused to defense.
