In the article the author examines the most important element of the criminalistic characteristics of crimes in the field of drug trafficking – the identity of the criminal, focusing on the specifics of the personality of an organized criminal. It is noted that the personality characteristics of such persons are determined by their role and place in the hierarchy of the criminal formation. It is concluded that knowledge of the features of organized criminal activity in this category of cases, including its organizers and perpetrators, the characteristic properties of the criminal’s personality, are inextricably linked with the need to develop a set of effective recommendations for the disclosure, investigation and prevention of crimes in the field of drug trafficking.
