The article examines the listening skills that are important for the successful implementation of professional activities by lawyers. The author shares her experience of teaching law school students to listen. It is emphasized that listening skills are an integral part of a lawyer’s professional communicative competence, therefore, special attention should be paid to the development of listening skills in future lawyers in speech disciplines. It is concluded that there is an urgent need to develop an appropriate methodology, which should be based on the effective experience of law school teachers, and training should have a practical focus. The purpose of the article is to draw the attention of researchers to the problems of communicative training of law students, in particular, to the issues of teaching listening: organizing the learning process that is as effective as possible in terms of mastering key communication skills by students and developing appropriate methods.
