On the isue of the essence of special knowledge in the Russian criminal procceedings

Abstract (English):
The article analyzes the prerequisites for the formation of special knowledge, carries out a historical analysis of various approaches to the concept of “special knowledge”. The complexity of investigating individual crimes necessitates the involvement of knowledgeable individuals who help the investigator and the court to resolve issues that go beyond their legal specialty. Significant criteria for distinguishing between special and non-special knowledge, as well as criteria for recognizing certain groups of persons as carriers of special knowledge, are given.
