The article is devoted to the study of public health, understood as a property of a population that ensures demographic development, the maximum possible life expectancy and labor activity of the population. In accordance with this, a selection of statistical indicators was made that characterize the health status of the population of the Republic of Bashkortostan. An analysis based on these indicators revealed that in the period 2019–2023. An increase in mortality in working age, a decrease in life expectancy, including a low increase in healthy life expectancy, as well as an increase in the number of cases of temporary disability for reasons related to respiratory diseases and infectious diseases are due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the health of residents of the region. It has been established that high mortality rates from alcohol poisoning in the context of settlement and gender, as well as in working age, indicate social problems existing in the sphere of public health of Bashkortostan. It has been determined that the difference in life expectancy values among the regions of the Volga Federal District serves as a marker showing regional disparities in the quality of life of the population and its health status.
