Abstract:
The subject of the article is the means of expressing verbal aggression and the means of euphemizing verbal aggression in political and journalistic discourse, as well as in a public speech in 2024–2025. The aim of the article is to identify and demonstrate the explicit and implicit manifestation of verbal aggression through non-standardized lexical means. The study involves a communicative and pragmatic analysis of the linguistic means of verbal aggression at the level of public speech. The linguistic means include a non-censored and vulgar-colloquial vocabulary, and words that evoke vulgar associations and violate the ethical norms of speech and the Russian society. The article identifies linguistic and textual units of euphemization of verbal aggression in political discourse. The main units are metaphor, allegory, and individual lexemes, as well as the use of irony. The author concludes that it is necessary to follow the linguistic norm and three aspects of Russian speech culture: normative, communicative, and ethical, in political discourse, journalistic texts (the media language), and public speech.
