Abstract (English):
This article attempts to analyze the national memory institutions established and operating in various countries and determine their status, including organizational features, powers, functions, guarantees, and other components. Furthermore, models of their operation are outlined, and a classification and criteria for it are proposed. Based on an analysis of similar institutions in Eastern and Central European countries, common and unique features are identified. The National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation is examined, highlighting the positive features characterizing its status. It is established that, in international practice, memory institutions with a comprehensive approach are less common, while those tasked with addressing one or more historical periods are more common.
