The article examines the essence of the institute of urgent investigative actions in criminal proceedings. The norms of criminal procedural law regulating the procedure for their production are analyzed. The author identifies the causes of dysfunction of the institute of urgent investigative actions, establishes in the legislation the existence of substitutions of the concepts of “urgent investigative actions” and “investigative actions that cannot be delayed”, gives their author’s definitions and makes proposals to reduce the time frame for the production of urgent investigative actions.
