LEADERISM AND TOTALITARIAN STATE IN THE CONCEPT OF HANNAH ARENDT
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The authors’ goal is to analyze the views of the famous political scientist H. Arendt on the nature of leaderism and its close relationship with the totalitarian state. She comes to the conclusion that it was precisely in the 20th century, when the former class, family, clan, patriarchal and other social ties weakened, that the most favorable conditions were created for the emergence of totalitarian regimes, reviving the phenomenon of leaderism. Totalitarian leaders, creating the illusion of all-powerful saviors of their people and far-sighted prophets, rely on an all-powerful bureaucratic apparatus, all-encompassing propaganda and mass terror. The conclusions of outstanding political thinkers serve as an important warning, reminding us of the need to develop democratic institutions and procedures, active and conscious participation of the broad masses in politics in order to build a prosperous and stable society.
