The article studies the additional education of school-age children with disabilities as a means of their socialization and adaptation in society. The importance of the socializing effect of additional education on children, especially on children with special needs, is emphasized in the analysis of the results of a sociological study conducted in 2025 in the municipalities of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Its participants were parents of pupils with disabilities. According to the survey, the highest need for additional education is observed mainly among pupils of Ufa schools. At the same time, the reasons why parents were forced to refuse additional education were indicated: the lack of additional classes in secondary schools, territorial inaccessibility of additional education institutions, and parents’ concerns about the possible academic overload of the child. Nevertheless, the most popular additional classes for “special” children were lessons in basic general education subjects, as well as remedial lessons.
