THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE STUDY OF THE PHENOMENON OF CHIEFDOM: TERMINOLOGICAL AND CONCEPTUAL APPARATUS (PART 1)
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article attempts to systematize and carefully define terms and concepts that will serve as the basis for a deep and systematic study of the phenomenon of chiefdom. Understanding the meanings of key words such as “leader”, “chiefdom”, “religion” and “sacredness” allows not only to identify their internal connections, but also to reduce the risk of misinterpretation, which is especially important in the context of social and political philosophy. An approach to analysis through the prism of etymology and historical context can significantly enrich our understanding of these concepts. After all, they not only serve to designate phenomena, but also form ideas about the social structure and cultural identity. Research in the field of philosophy and sociology requires us not only to be precise in the use of terms, but also to reflect deeply on the meanings they imply. This will allow us to perceive more adequately the essence of social and cultural interaction, which opens up new horizons for research.
